Economy Plumbing & Sheet Metal, Inc has been growing over the past 30 years to become one of the leading mechanical contractors in Hawaii today. We have experienced personnel in both the Field and in the Office that are capable of supporting both small and very large projects that include design build, design assist and plan and spec projects. We have extensive experience working on Federal and State projects and working in Medical facilities.
Some of the large Design Build projects that we have completed are Pearl Harbor Shipyard Central A/C Plant and campus CHW loop, Iolani School Central Plant and campus CHW loop, Hawaii Pacific University, Tripler Hospital Central Plant, Honolulu Airport Central Plant, Iolani Palace, Ford Island and Hickam Data Centers.
QUEEN’S MEDICAL CENTER
The Queen’s Medical Center is Hawaii’s largest private hospital in Hawaii and the leading medical referral center in the Pacific Basin. Queen’s is an acute private non-profit hospital in downtown Honolulu founded in 1859 by Queen Emma and King Kamehameha IV.
Design Build project to re pipe rooftop condenser water piping and relocate a 1,200 Ton dual cell BAC cooling tower to make room for new emergency generators at the Hospital. Phasing of work and careful planning was required to ensure that the Hospital had absolutely no A/C shutdown.
Other air conditioning, plumbing and medical gas projects completed throughout the Hospital.
BOARD OF WATER SUPPLY
The Board of Water Supply is the municipal arm of the City and County of Honolulu in charge of all water on the island Of Oahu. Its headquarters building is located on Beretania Street in downtown Honolulu.
Design Build project completed to replace all air conditioning equipment and all air conditioning piping throughout the Board’s Beretania Street Headquarters building. Some of the A/C equipment was over 50 years old. Change outs included new water cooled chillers, new cooling tower, new pumps, new air handlers, new fan coil units, new computerized DDC system, new electrical power, new insulation and new ductwork. All work phased and coordinated so that building could remain occupied and operational at all times.
HAWAII PACIFIC UNIVERSITY
Hawaii Pacific University is the largest independent accredited non sectarian post secondary University in Honolulu, Hawaii. The Academic Center is the largest classroom and office building on its Kanehoe campus and it is the hub of the school.
Design Build project to replace all existing 16 rooftop package units serving Academic Center with new chilled water air handlers served by a new Central water cooled chilled water plant. Academic Center could only be without air conditioning for 3 weeks during winter break so air handler installation was on a fast track expedited schedule.
